#17   Fire Buckets, c.1920

These galvanized pails with a dome-shaped bottom were used to hold sand or water in commercial or retail buildings. Usually hung on pillars, they were used as an emergency fire extinguisher in the 1920’s.

As they would not stand upright very well, their shape made them impractical for other uses to ensure they were present when required.

“GSW Fire Pail, Accepted by Canadian Underwriters Association”.
