Self-Guiding Tour

#7   1930 LaFrance Pump

This truck is a 1930 LaFrance Foamite Type 285 Metropolitan and is almost visibly a twin to the 1928 LaFrance. It served in Winnipeg from 1930 – 1963 before it was retired.

Like the 1928 Lafrance, it was used during the 1950 flood to pump water over the dykes for three weeks.

Although this truck is visibly the same as the 1928 Lafrance it was much more powerful. It featured a 140 Horsepower, 6 cylinders engine and was able to pump water at 1000 gpm / 4600 lpm.

This truck is in its original condition as when it arrived to the possession of the Fire Museum and has not been refurbished.
